The Houma Elementary Housing Development revitalized an entire city block in downtown Houma. The project consisted of renovating 2 historic school buildings that were constructed in the 1930s and 1950s as well as new construction of a 3 story building. The three buildings now house 103 senior living apartment units. The historic rehab included masonry and interior plaster restoration, wood window restoration, running trim and wood door replication, wood flooring restoration and new sprinkler, mechanical, electrical, and special systems. The new construction is a pile supported wood framed building with standard interior finishes including brick and cement siding veneers.
