The Good Shepherd School Desire project involves the renovation of an existing 24,600-square-foot modular building at 3601 Desire Street in New Orleans, Louisiana for use as a temporary K–8 educational facility. The project scope includes a full interior build-out with new mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, classroom layouts for approximately 20 students per room, and support spaces including administration, a centralized cafeteria with warming kitchen, nurse’s office and sick room, staff workroom and breakroom, conference rooms, and storage. Key design features include open corridors connecting classroom wings for efficient circulation, dedicated kindergarten classrooms with direct exterior access, and multiple covered exterior entry points. Exterior building work includes new entry platforms, ramps, stairs, and perimeter skirting, while site work includes new water, sewer, and electrical utility connections, stormwater drainage with sediment and erosion control, accessibility improvements, student play areas, a screened dumpster enclosure, new fencing and gates, and improved vehicular access from Desire Street and Higgins Boulevard.
