The KID smART Center for Arts & Education project involved the renovation of a 90+ year-old building located in the historic Bayou Road neighborhood. The scope included converting the first floor into office and training spaces and building out the second floor with multiple visual arts classrooms, a podcasting studio, a dance studio with a sprung floor, and a performing arts room with theater lighting. Work required careful integration of new mechanical systems and an elevator into the existing historic structure while maintaining the building’s character. Unique elements included the installation of specialized performance flooring, theatrical lighting, and a bold paint scheme featuring over 30 different colors. The completed facility provides KID smART with a modern, functional, and creative environment.
