Belle Chasse Academy

The Belle Chasse Academy renovation and expansion project upgrades the existing campus with modern interior finishes and building systems to improve durability, performance, and functionality. Interior scope includes replacement of existing tile flooring with laminated flooring, new acoustical ceilings, updated cabinetry and millwork, and full interior repaint with new wallcoverings. The project also includes complete upgrades to the HVAC and lighting systems to improve environmental control, energy efficiency, and overall building performance. Additional scope includes installation of ballistic-rated storefront entrances, construction of a new field house, track, and playground, and integration of a photovoltaic system to support on-site power generation.

 All work is being performed on an active U.S. Naval base, requiring federal access clearance for all personnel. This necessitates advanced coordination to maintain workforce availability and schedule adherence. The project must also comply with the Build America, Buy American Act, requiring all specified materials to be domestically manufactured, which impacts procurement strategy, lead times, and cost control.

Construction is being executed in seven phases over a three-year duration within an occupied and operational school. Phasing is sequenced to maintain continuous school operations, with some phases overlapping and others dependent on prior completion. The majority of disruptive work is scheduled during summer months, requiring detailed planning, tight schedule management, and coordination with school administration to minimize impact to students and staff.
